Cora is a Dublin-based artist and a graduate of NCAD and DIT. Cora has had many solo exhibitions and has also participated in group shows. Her work is in private collections in Ireland and abroad as well as included in the collections of Aer Lingus, The Law Society, Tallaght Hospital and others
I work within the traditional genres of landscape both urban and rural, portraiture and still life, experimenting with composition light and colour. More recently my work focuses on my response to landscape, elements of farming and observation of the marts, the Mayo/Sligo livestock mart in particular. I am fascinated by the sheer bulk and shapes of the cattle, the atmospheric conditions of the interior, provided by light from skylights and partly open doorways, reflections on wet floor surfaces, the myriad of patterns and range of colours, all provide an exciting subject matter. - Cora O'Brien.
