Leonora Neary

Artist profile

Artist Statement

 

 

Originally from Roscommon, Leonora graduated from the University of Ulster in Belfast with an honours degree in Visual Communication, one year of which was spent at ISIA, Urbino, Italy.
She has participated in many group shows and has
held number of solo exhibitions since 2007. Her work has
featured in both the RHA and RUA annual exhibitions.
She has been awarded residencies at Cill Rialaig
and the Tyrone Guthrie Centre.
Based between Sligo and Roscommon, Leonora's
work is predominantly landscape-based. Striving to combine a
sense of the physical geography of her surrounding environs with a deeper sense of their mood and atmosphere, the work is notably evocative and ethereal.

1991 : Certificate in Foundation Studies, University of Ulster, Belfast.

OTHER

2015  Project co-creator and co-ordinater of Of This Place, an eight person Yeats 2015-related group show, exhibiting at Ateneo de Madrid and Hamilton Gallery, Sligo. This project was awarded funding by Culture Ireland, The Irish Diaspora Fund, Sligo County Council and Yeats 2015.
